PC Problems – Forced hiatus
My PC died, which is really bad, because I’m right in the middle of writing my M.A. thesis, and I really don’t want to even start thinking about this issue… However, the other bad news is that all my images for the queue are on my PC’s hard drive. I can’t access them, and I really can’t reconstruct my image selection, because I really have other things on my mind. Sorry.
So, I’m afraid Redskirts & Green Ladies will be on hiatus for some time. I promise, I will finish covering the final episode of TOS and go on with the other series, but I really can’t tell when. In the meantime, maybe you will find some enjoyable ‘Cuties’ the archives (I highly recommend revisting the original series’ first season):

TOS: “Turnabout Intruder”: Lieutenant “Lisa”, played by Barbara Baldavin. Baldavin had previously played Angela Martine in “Balance of Terror" and later appeared in "Shore Leave" (her character was called "Mary Teller" in the script). She also played a character named "Baker" in "Space Seed”, but her scene was cut from the final episode.

TOS: “Turnabout Intruder”: Something seems to be wrong with Christine’s hair in the courtroom scene.

TOS: “Turnabout Intruder”: Christine makes her final appearance in the final episode, and her hair is darker than ever.
ENT: “Cold Front”: An Enterprise command division crewman, played by Cecilia Conn, who had appearances in 8 episodes.
TOS: “Turnabout Intruder”: The only unnamed lady of Starfleet in this episode. I know, this is just stock footage, but it was used so many times, and this officer is in so many episodes, she deserves to be featured when covering the series’ final episode.

"Turnabout Intruder" is the final episode of the original series. Its female lead is Sandra Smith, who plays Janice Lester, the woman who becomes James T. Kirk.
Some of Janice Lester’s lines in this episode are very disturbing. I’m not exactly sure what to make of her comment that women aren’t “admitted” to Starfleet’s “world of starship captains”. I really can’t believe that Starfleet would have regulations against female officers becoming commanding officers, but maybe she was referring to a glass ceiling and still existing sexism in the “world” of higher officers.
But then, Lester doesn’t seem to be a trustworthy witness, not even a sane one. When she takes over Kirk’s body and then attempts to kill him, Lester says: “Now you know the indignity of being a woman. For you this agony will soon pass, as it has for me. […] Believe me, it’s better to be dead than to live alone in the body of a woman." Kirk later attests "her intense hatred of her own womanhood.”
This episode also marks the return of Barbara Baldavin, who had previously appeared as Angela Martine in “Balance of Terror" and "Shore Leave”. In “Turnabut Intruder”, she plays a communications officer named Lisa, filling in for the absent Uhura. While we don’t meet our favorite bridge officer in the finale episode of the series, at least our favorite nurse, Christine, is in it.
